Our Story
When I was 26, I donated a kidney to my brother who was diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease with late stage kidney failure. Reflecting on that time, I was scared and intimidated and although my clinical needs were cared for, my healthcare organisation could have done more to support me. If I had access to peer support services it would have made a very difficult time a little bit easier for me and my family. The professional support we received from our healthcare providers was great, but they didn't understand what it was like to be in our situation. The professional support could have been complemented with additional support from a community of past patients who knew what it was like to donate a kidney or receive a kidney transplant.
I have spent my career building successful software products, focusing largely in the Healthcare and Pharmaceutical industries as my career progressed. Creating innovation in the patient support space, starting with Supportal, was a natural step for me, allowing me to combine my technical expertise with my passion for creating value for customers and bringing innovation to the patient support space.
